Yearning

a channel of water flowing out to sea, with the sun reflecting on the water.

The campfire’s flickering light shows our faces,

apprehensive for the the coming dawn

For then we will have to take our places

and do battle in this coming morn.

I yearn to be back at home,

with my wife and children three.

Back at the place I call my own,

not fearing the carnage yet to be.
